As set out in the procedures for the appointment of Directors-General (WT/L/509), as early as possible after the close of the one-month nomination period, candidates shall be invited to meet with Members at a formal General Council meeting at which they will be invited to make a brief presentation, including their vision for the WTO, to be followed by a question-and-answer period.

For this purpose, and following the close of the nomination period on 31 December for the post of the next Director-General, a meeting of the General Council will be held in the Centre William Rappard on Tuesday, 29 January starting at 11 a.m. and will continue on Wednesday 30 January and on Thursday 31 January.

In keeping with the procedures, the Chair of the General Council circulated on 3 January a consolidated list of the candidatures received, in the order in which they were received (WT/GC/INF/19).
