Complaint by the United States.

On 24 May 1996, the US requested consultations with Korea concerning testing, inspection and other measures required for the importation of agricultural products into Korea. The US claimed that these measures restrict imports and appear to be inconsistent with the WTO Agreement. Violations of GATT Articles III and XI, SPS Articles 2, 5 and 8, TBT Articles 2, 5 and 6, and Article 4 of the Agreement on Agriculture are alleged. The US requested consultations with Korea on similar issues on 4 April 1995 (WT/DS3).
