World trade congress on Gender
Gender equality for sustainable trade and recovery

The World Trade Congress on Gender is the first international research conference on trade and gender. The 2022 is the first edition and subsequent editions will take place on a biennial basis with the objective to release research work conducted by trade and gender experts (members and non-members of the Hub) and promote innovative research on this field.

The Congress intends to promote research on trade and gender by bringing together the most prominent researchers and highlighting tangible results of research on women worldwide. It will mobilise trade and gender experts from around the world to share their perspectives on gender related trade issues and promote gender mainstreaming in research and gather researchers with policy makers to foster inclusive and gender responsive trade policies.

Gender equality, sustainable trade and recovery at the heart of the Congress

Under the theme "Gender Equality for Sustainable Trade and Recovery", the World Trade Congress on Gender will explore how gender equality can foster sustainable trade and how trade can make recovery work for women. It will also discuss new trade and gender topics in relations with how crisis impact women the most.

The Congress will present 24 research papers on trade and gender during 8 different sessions exploring themes such as gender and RTAs, the links between social issues and trade, women entrepreneurs, trade facilitation, gender responsive policy making, digitalisation and COVID-19. It will also include 2 plenary sessions looking at gender-based violence, economic empowerment and the role of trade and how crisis impact women the most.
