Women in Global Value Chains

Geneva, WTO Headquarters - Room W

MIKTA (Mexico, Indonesia, Korea, Turkey and Australia), in cooperation with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), would like to invite you to the Workshop on Women in Global Value Chains at the WTO on the 1st of October.

The Workshop will look at the gender dimension of global value chains (GVCs) and explore how trade policies, trade measures and technical assistance can help enhance women's participation in GVCs. It will also showcase different perspectives from actors in GVCs, best practices and experiences of WTO Members.

Reception will follow at the Lobby CR, WTO.

Background: The Buenos Aires Declaration on Trade and Women’s Economic Empowerment was launched at the WTO’s 11th Ministerial Conference. Now there are 121 signatories. Building on the momentum achieved by this important accomplishment, the workshop will be yet another opportunity to seek ways to translate the Declaration into meaningful action. More details on trade and gender can be found on the WTO website: www.wto.org/womenandtrade.
