Proposed Agenda

The Proposed Agenda can be found in document WT/GC/W/642 and contains the following items:

1. Accession of Vanuatu — Report of the Working Party

Under this Agenda item, the General Council will consider the Report of the re-convened Working Party on the Accession of Vanuatu (WT/ACC/VUT/17 and Add.1 and 2, WT/ACC/VUT/18).

2. Report by the Chairman of the Trade Negotiations Committee

This is a standing Item on the Agenda. The Director-General will report, in his capacity as Chairman of the TNC, on activities in this area since his last report in July.

3. Work Programme on Small Economies — Report by the Chairman of the Dedicated Session of the Committee on Trade and Development

Under this standing Item, the Chairman of the Dedicated Session of the CTD will report on the progress of work in the Work Programme on Small Economies.

4. Eighth Session of the Ministerial Conference

(a) Statement by the Chairman

The Chairman will report on the consultations he has undertaken in preparation for the Eighth Ministerial Conference (MC8), which will take place in Geneva on 15-17 December.

(b) Attendance of Observers from Governments and International Governmental Organizations¹

The Chairman will report on the convergence around his suggestion to follow past practice which was apparent in his consultations.

(c) Attendance of Non-Governmental Organizations

The Chairman will suggest that past practice, which is governed by a procedure agreed by the General Council in July 1996, be followed with respect to the attendance of NGOs.

 

5. Appointment of Officers to WTO Bodies — Negotiating Group on Rules and Specials Sessions of the Committee on Agriculture and of the Committee on Trade and Environment

The Chairman will report on his consultations regarding the Chairmanships of the three negotiating bodies indicated above.

6. WTO Pension Plan

The General Council will consider the report of the Management Board of the WTO Pension Plan contained in document WT/L/820. The Council is also expected to elect a Member and an Alternate to the Management Board, in accordance with a proposal by the Chairman contained in WT/GC/W/640. Finally, the Council is expected to adopt the amendment of Article 30 of the Regulations of the WTO Pension Plan as contained in WT/GC/W/637.

7. Committee on Budget, Finance and Administration — Report on meeting of October 2011

The Chairman of the Budget Committee will introduce the report of the October 2011 meeting of the Committee, contained in WT/BFA/126.
