Transformative Partnerships for Trade Resilience
South-South and triangular cooperation in action
Cooperation between developing economies (South-South cooperation) and triangular cooperation (South-South partnerships supported by a developed economy) offer opportunities for developing economies to address trade-related challenges through exchanges of skills, resources and technical know-how. Cooperation also takes the form of regional and inter-regional partnerships that support trade and development. This publication examines the evolving role of South-South and triangular cooperation in strengthening trade capacities.
Drawing on trade trends and practical experiences from developing economies, the publication illustrates how partnerships can help overcome trade constraints and support greater participation in international trade. The publication also explores approaches to measuring and reporting South-South cooperation and identifies priorities for strengthening partnerships, improving coordination and enhancing the visibility of their contributions to trade and development.
Co-published with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) in 2026.
