The Proposed Agenda can be found in document WT/GC/W/730 and contains the following items:

1. Appointment of the Director-General

In line with the Procedures for the appointment of Directors-General (WT/L/509), on 27 February, the sole candidate for the post, the incumbent Director-General, will make a presentation to the General Council which will be followed by a Q&A period. The General Council is expected to take a decision on the appointment of the Director-General.

2. Report by the Chairman of the Trade Negotiations Committee

The Director-General will report, in his capacity as Chairman of the TNC, on activities in this area since his last report to the Council. A meeting at the level of Heads-of Delegation took place on 23 February.  

3. Protocol amending the Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization — Agreement on Trade Facilitation — Status Update

Following the entry into force of the Agreement on Trade Facilitation on 22 February, the Director-General will provide a status update on this matter to the General Council.

4. Implementation of the Bali and Nairobi Outcomes — Statement by the Chairman

The General Council Chairman will provide an update on the implementation work concerning the Bali and Nairobi Decisions in the respective Councils and Committees.

5. Work Programme on Small Economies — Report by the Chairman of the Dedicated Session of the Committee on Trade and Development

The Chairperson of the CTD will provide a report on the progress in the Work Programme on Small Economies.

6. Review of the Exemption provided under Paragraph 3 of the GATT 1994

The Council will conduct the two yearly-cycle review of the United States' exemption under Paragraph 3(a) of GATT 1994.

7. Review of Waivers pursuant to Article IX:4 of the WTO Agreement

The following waiver will be up for review pursuant to Article IX:4 of the WTO Agreement:

a. United States — African Growth and Opportunity Act

8. Appointment of Officers to WTO Bodies

The General Council Chairman will provide a report on his consultations on this matter, and the General Council is expected to take up the appointment of Chairpersons of WTO bodies in Groups 1, 2, 4 and 5 of the Annex to the Guidelines for the Appointment of Officers to WTO Bodies (WT/L/510)

9. Election of Chairperson

The Council will elect its Chairperson for 2017.
